The TICE 2011 will be held on the scenic campus of National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), a seashore university located at the second largest city of Taiwan--Kaohsiung City.
Kaohsiung is Taiwan’s second-largest city and the undisputed hub of commerce and transportation in southern Taiwan. As the world‘s sixth largest cargo-container seaport, Kaohsiung is also known as the Harbor Capital of Taiwan. Its year-round fine weather, low cost of living, hospitality and diverse tourist attractions makes Kaohsiung a favorite destination for visitors to Taiwan. As the host city for 2008 World Games, Kaohsiung has transformed itself into an elegant city at the heart of Taiwan’s fastest-growing metropolitan area.
Established in 1980, the National Sun Yat-sen University consists of six colleges including Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Management, Marine Sciences, and Social Sciences. The NSYSU offers 20 Bachelor’s, 37 Master’s and 27 Doctoral Programs with currently more than 9000 students enrolled and 459 full-time faculty members. Over the past decades, the NSYSU has progressed to become one of the top 7 research-oriented universities in Taiwan. The TICE 2011 will be held on the scenic campus of NSYSU, a seashore university overlooking the Hsitsu Bay and surrounded by lush mountains. Near and within the campus there are several historic relics, tourist attractions and precious wildlife species which make NSYSU a unique conference site.
How to reach NSYSU
- After arriving at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), you can take High Speed Rail (HSR) from Taoyuan to Kaohsiung (Zouying) Station (1.3 hrs). Then take a MRT train from Zouying station to Hsitsu Bay Station (25 mins). The NSYSU campus is just 10 minute walk away from Hsitsu Bay Station.
- After arriving at Kaohsiung International Airport, you can choose to take a taxi from the Kaohsiung International Airport (KIA) to reach NSYSU campus (40 mins) or take a MRT train from KIA station to Hsitsu Bay Station (30 mins).
- By High Speed Rail, it takes 1.5 hrs~2hrs from Taipei to Kaohsiung.
